M10- Stropharia- AKA S. Rugosoannulata. AKA: Wine Caps, Garden Giant, Burgundy Mushroom, King Stropharia, Godzilla Mushroom & Cannabis Grower’s Best Friend. Stropharia is native to North America, and their ability to tolerate some sun makes them uniquely suited for adding to gardens & they attract earthworms. Stropharia can grow as large as dinner plates & have a flavor that is somewhere between a potato, asparagus & artichoke. Stropharia contains chitin, a compound that makes crab & lobster shells strong, which breaks with heat, these mushrooms are best grilled, sauteed, or baked. Stropharia is a great source of protein & is rich in many vitamins, minerals & nutrients.
It is illegal to grow or sell Stropharia species, including King Stropharia, for human consumption in the US state of Louisiana.
